About LADJA TWEEDCRAFT
Hello, welcome to the LADJA TWEEDCRAFT website.
LADJA TWEEDCRAFT is a small craft business based on the Eye Peninsula on the Isle of Lewis, approximately 10 miles from the main town of Stornoway. The name LADJA comes from the initials of my husband, three daughters and my own.
I have been sewing and knitting for as long as I can remember and started LADJA TWEEDCRAFT about ten years ago, making handbags, jewellery, tiaras and more recently, soft furnishings. All of the fabric items are made from Harris Tweed which is a beautiful pure wool fabric produced exlusively in the Western Isles of Scotland and comes in a large variety of colours and patterns (please use the link for the Harris Tweed Authority for further information). Most of the bags have either leather handles which I make myself, or are acrylic handbag styles.
My items are mostly made to order due to the cost of the fabric, and all the styles are repeatable but sadly not all of the tweed displayed is still in production. I hope you like the items I make, and if you like a style but would prefer a different fabric please get in touch.
If you are fortunate enough to be planning a visit to the Isle of Lewis some of my products can be found at Hebridean Cottage Crafts in Stornoway, other outlets include the Skye Museum of Island Life one the Isle of Skye and Mount Stuart Visitor Centre on the Isle of Bute. From time to time I am invited to sell at small events in the Ellon area of Aberdeenshire so please keep an eye on the events page for updates.
All my very best wishes.
